Eating the frog and Giant Peach on the brain, it’s the day in the life of James, the founder of Giant Peach.

Position:

Digital Strategist (or Founder!)

Tea or coffee?

Tea.

What’s the first thing you do when you get in the office?

Turn on the lights…

What’s your timekeeping/workload management secret? Do you use apps/online tools/leather-bound diary?

I use GQueues and I’ve developed my own personalised task management system based on books/blogs/articles I’ve read. I’d recommend it to everyone – find out what works for you; then it’s just about finding the personal discipline to stick to it.

James

Do you have a way to ‘come at’ the day?

Eat a Frog. A great book by Brian Tracy, quote from Mark Twain. If the first thing you do in your day is to eat a frog, everything you do after will in no way be as bad!

What do you love most about your day?

Creating things.

What’s your least favourite part of the day?

The Schedule meeting.

Top stress-busting tip?

Only worry about what you can influence. Don’t waste your energy on things you can’t.

James

What’s on your desk right now?

Laptop, display, iPhone, pad, pen, phone, hardrive, coaster (no hot drink yet, what’s going on?!)

When do you take your first break? And what do you tend to do?

I try and work for 2 hours solid and then get up and walk around.

What do you do when you have a creative block?

Get up and walk around.

What do you take into meetings?

Laptop.

What’s for lunch?

Pete’s Spanish Surprise (it’s his #FatFriday).

How you decide to call it a day?

At the end of the day I look to see what I’ve got on tomorrow, plan my tasks and then shut down. But I’m always thinking about Giant Peach, working away on things, I don’t think that’ll ever change.
