Google revealed their new logo across the world on Tuesday with a simple yet effective animation that wipes away the old dated logo and draws the new one.
The change in logo comes just a month after a complete restructure of the company by new owners Alphabet, a holding company created by founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page.
Google have announced that the new design will be seen across all its products in a blogpost, “Google has changed a lot over the past 17 years – from the range of our products to the evolution of their look and feel. And today we’re changing things up once again,”
According to the search engine giant the change is needed to fit all devices due to the number of people who now use the site on mobile devices rather than desktop computers, which was the case when the original logo was designed.
“It doesn’t simply tell you that you’re using Google, but also shows you how Google is working for you. For example, new elements like a colorful Google mic help you identify and interact with Google whether you’re talking, tapping or typing. Meanwhile, we’re bidding adieu to the little blue ‘g’ icon and replacing it with a four-color ‘G’ that matches the logo.”
The smoother slicker logo is forward thinking with technology at the forefront of why Google has made this change. A curvier logo we can handle, but let’s hope the colours don’t have a face lift as well!
