1.3 million people around the world live in extreme poverty. And while no honourable business would ever condone this, it’s only a minority who are actively committed to changing it. Here at Giant Peach, we understand the importance of social responsibility, and we dedicate ourselves to achieving the highest ethical standards in business. That’s why we’re members of Business against Poverty – an accredited membership community that drives profitable, ethical and sustainable growth for the benefit of its members and society at large. We thought we’d take this opportunity to tell you a bit more about the great work it’s doing, why we’re members and how your business can get involved.

What is Business against Poverty?

Founded by Bill Huxley, Business against Poverty truly cares about the issue of poverty – so do its members. Businesses that take action in this respect, and who meet the organisation’s Code of Ethics, are eligible for membership. Offering a number of packages, which bring with them a range of key benefits, Business against Poverty members are authorised to carry the accreditation Kitemark. This differentiates them from competitors and makes a significant statement about their businesses and values. The organisation’s funds drive humanitarian work of the charity People against Poverty.

Why is Giant Peach a member?

We’re big believers in making business a force for good in the world. That’s why we’ve been proud members of Business against Poverty since June 2015. For us, it’s a natural fit, as we donate computer hardware to the Marcsri Centre in Sri Lanka, purchase fair trade office supplies and really care about the well being of each and every one of the Peaches in the office. As well as this, all our business activity centres on communicating the work of our clients who are directly changing the world. From Discover Adventure, who has helped reforest the Lares Valley in Peru, to Edukaid, who strive to reshape lives in Tanzania through education – it’s our mission to help all our clients make a difference.

How can your business get involved?

If your business shares these values, and is actively involved in pursuing them, you may like to consider joining the Business against Poverty community. Check out the company’s website and, when you’re ready, submit an application to become a member.
